By now everyone has either heard or have received their copy of Traffic Secrets 2.0. John Reese ran an impressive marketing campaign for it though he probably didn’t need to do much after his success with the first edition Traffic Secrets. I haven’t bought my copy yet but reviews would suggest it’s very good if not a few things other top marketers don’t agree with. You also have to be wary of the reviews by affiliates of the product which can easily affect your buying decision in a non-biased way.

Anyone who has it and has gone through it, feel free to leave some comments about it. I own Traffic Secrets 1 and love it. It’s the ONLY high ticket item I’ve ever bought and was very pleased with it. Traffic Secrets 1 was a full blown course, while Traffic Secrets 2 is devoted just to getting traffic. On this specialized nature of the product I’d be curious how in depth it actually goes.

There’s many huge high ticket releases a year in this business and it doesn’t take much to find out just how many there are. The question really is, how does Traffic Secrets stack up to what has come out since we first learned of it and John Reese himself.

Marketing using forums is a slowly rising traffic technique used today. The benefits are great and simple to get. They are, at least, if you know what’s expected of you at any given forum. While they’re all different in their own way all forums will follow the same basic rules. Somewhere between the 1990s and now this knowledge seemed to have been lost. This is even more apparent for online marketers, some who have never used a message board before. What also has been lost is forum etiquette. It seems online marketers are the biggest group of people that don’t seem to know about or understand this, as most of it is unwritten, until now.

All the obvious stuff about forums is still true and has not changed. You register, become part of the community, work your way through their hierarchy and become a respected member. Be active. Give it some time and really work the area. In this regard every article you’ve ever read about forum marketing is spot on. All of these suggestions both benefit and help the community you’ve joined as a whole without pointing the mods at you for spamming or being there to sell your stuff. Here’s where most go wrong:

DON’T DOUBLE POST! I can’t stress that one enough. Double posting is when you make a post in reply to yourself. It can be any number of times as well, but ‘double posting’ is the term for it. Online marketers LOVE to double post. I’m telling you now, stop doing it. The Edit button was designed for just this reason. Obviously, you seem to want your signature link to be posted once more and gain another backlink. That’s bad form. And it’s bad form because of the possible consequences. At minimum your post will likely be edited to just a single post like you should have done with the Edit button. At worst BOTH posts will be deleted. The reason why double posting is frowned upon is because, in a typical conversation(the spirit in which message boards try to recreate), people reply back and forth to each other. While is not normally a bannable offense you will make some mods angry from editing your posts so much and they’ll probably stick you on a Watch List. Not good for your marketing.

Another thing that is a constant offense, though not bannable, is having a Signature that breaks the forum’s rules. This will get you quick Private Messages from the moderators as well as annoy them for every day you haven’t fixed it. They’ll also know you DID NOT read their forum rules before creating your signature. This, like double posting, already starts you out working back to point zero with the management. The moderators may also just decide to edit your signature out of every post you have or ban your signature all together if you haven’t changed it to their rules and/or ignored Private Messages to change it.

Another obvious one is don’t jump in advertising something. If your first post to as far as your first ten posts smell like ads you’ll be put on a Watch List quick or even just have your account deleted because you’ll be viewed as a spammer. Spambots do this type of thing all the time, but when they can tell a person is doing it they may be a bit faster on the trigger.

When you think about it, all these rules of forum etiquette exist because it’s so easy to weed out marketers and spammers with them. They’re usually first to double post and first to make lots of small posts to get their backlinks. This is why forums have rules that allow the deletion of posts such as “I agree.”, “Thanks.” and “I sent you a PM.” The rules may be annoying but they were designed with the best interests in mind. It just happened to be exactly what marketers don’t like to have on their boards. In an ideal world no one would market or sell anyone anything on message boards. You probably go to some to relax. If you follow the above you’ll have a much higher chance of marketing successfully and avoiding getting banned.

Robert Kreuk

———————————-

I’m a moderator at a few forums ran by other people. I see this stuff happen constantly. Of all the boards I go to, and I go to a lot of them, internet marketers are by far the most guilty of the above offenses in the article. I don’t know when this knowledge was lost, but it’s time it was found again.

I’ve found a great place to potentially have something really cool, but I can’t find the interest anywhere. Perhaps all the hype about people wanting to learn how to make money from video is just that, hype.

So I’ve got to see if there really is an interest here. I’ve set up a notification list anyone can sign up for and let me know if they really want to learn this or if there’s no response, that it really is falling on deaf ears. If this is really true, where are all the people?

Hey guys!

It’s been a long time. I went through this spell where my heart just wasn’t in it anymore. As you can see, it was partially about the Amero, and that’s still true. A lot of things will change if and when the Amero goes into circulation. Like all of our buy links changing…. yeah, that’ll be fun to do.

Anyway, I think I’ve found my muse that got me motivated the first time. My goal for internet marketing has never been money related. It was a means to an end. Maybe that’s why I’m not quite as good at it as I could be, but whatever the case a non-monetary goal has done for me marketingwise, it would still mean nothing without motivation to do the daily tasks that even bring in a few cents a day. Even those can dry up if you don’t keep them maintained.

Basically, I’m in a lull in my life that again feels like the first hole I escaped that got me here to begin with. Again I had to fight to remember and want what it was that even got me to this place. I’ve always wanted this thing and success, but without motivation, and desire, and intent to get it, it’s just a flowery daydream. It’s been that for so long now I was beginning to accept it as truth. A very bad thing to do.

I’m returning back to the game more motivated than ever. No one but me is going to make these projects happen, and no one but me wants what I want. So, it looks like no one but me can fix this situation.

I’ve already got an idea in mind for my next product. I’m going to jump into market research and take it from there. I can see my light at the end of the tunnel again. It’s always so close, but this time, I’m going to catch it.

So it’s been awhile since I updated. This is partly due to the holidays coming in two back-to-back months. I’m sure everyone out there has similar things happening.
Anyway, this is about something that you would think would be a hot topic of discussion but is not. It’s in regard to the Amero. At the basic level the Amero would be a combined currency between the US, Mexico, and Canada. It is already happening and there was even an CNBC broadcast where it was discussed:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hiPrsc9g98

One radio broadcaster, surely to be future conspiracy theorist and assumed crackpot, has pictures and video of what this coin looks like. Interesting read, even for you types who think the government is honest withMa soprattuto, conoscere anche quelle che sono le mani vincenti e le peculiarita’ del poker alla texana, ovvero che il full batte il colore. you. You can read that here. While it’s more public domain at this point, the Amero isn’t supposed to exist yet, at all.

That’s a side issue though. As I suspect most, if not all of my readers are US resident and marketers themselves an important question needs to be asked. What does this mean and why should I care?

With a coin already being Minted and it’s plans slowly trickling into the mainstream, combined with the decline of the US Dollar it should be clear to some there is at least two points there. While two points do not make a line they should raise an eyebrow. For the Amero to come into existence our Dollar would have to be taken out of circulation. If you run it’s value into the ground no one will argue when this proposed change to the Amero happens.

I’m still undecided if this new Minting is a good or bad idea, but I do know the way the government is going about it is wrong. It’s using the simple outline of creating a problem then offering the solution. We often deal with different parts of this equation in affiliate marketing and our own marketing, but we never create the problem first so that our customers have to come us to fix it. This is my problem with the Amero and the loss of value of the American Dollar.

Obviously, this is neither here nor there in regards to internet marketing, but since it deals exactly with the currency we do business in it should matter to us. With the “official” debut of the Amero many could be bankrupt overnight, just as others will become rich overnight from the currency change.

My heart hasn’t been in Internet Marketing for awhile since I’ve been trying to figure out how to best deal with the soon-to-be inevidable change-over. This post has you in the mind, the marketer, and maybe together we can do something to get out of this the same, or better, than we are now.

Lately, sine it’s not a hot topic yet and I think it should be, let other people know. Show them this, have them Google “Amero”, whatever. We can’t change what we don’t know about.

“1. Google created the PageRank monster which has spawned a whole industry. They should be the ones fixing it by eliminating Pagerank all together.

2. If websites wish to sell link advertising to gain revenue it has nothing to do with search engines. Website owners should not have to modify their websites using nofollow tags because Google made a mistake creating pagerank.

3. Google created created the nofollow tag to prevent comment spam on blogs, or so they say. Far from being a success, the nofollow tag on blogs has failed miserably.”

As we all know the Google Juggernaut isn’t perfect, just don’t tell Google that. You can read the full article here:

An excellent article on using Digg was posted at Earner’s Blog detailing how to make your Digg account weigh in more heavily and land those front page stories more easily. Here’s a copy of his list:

 1. Create a Digg Account
2. Choose a memorable name & a good picture (picture is vitally important, notice how the top user supernova17 has a bright image ). Make the name memorable. Bear in mind you’re not trying to deceive here but merely some extra persuasion which will help with initial diggs.
3. Start by digging stories from users in the “upcoming section” make sure & leave a nice comment on each.
4. Add friends & digg their stories regularly. Adding friends is key to making this work.
5. Check for people that have added you as a friend using the “See who befriended you” tab.
6. Start submitting stories from places like reddit & stumbleupon to get an idea of how many initial diggs you are going to get. If you’re getting less that 10 diggs from friends then you need to do more digging & building.
7. Try to comment first on stories you think will hit the front page, this increases your exposure & increases your chances of acquiring friends.
8. You’ll instantly get a feel for what’s working & what’s not working. Now it’s time to tweak things.
9. Don’t submit into the general category. Things scroll off too quickly & don’t linger enough to get that initial “boost.”
10. I added anyone that dugg my stories as a friend. If they check their “befriended” tab they’ll probably add me too. This works well with newer users who have less friends. Make them feel wanted :p
11. Create a huge list of resources to scour for stories. 50-100 is good, tech blogs, apple news all that sort of stuff you want right in your feed reader.
12. I Created google alerts so that I’m getting info on hot topics right to your email inbox.
13. Don’t post your own stories until you’re sure you can get that initial 10-20 diggs to get your story noticed. If you’re posting your own stories you need to make sure they’re professional, not spammy otherwise you’ll get buried & the blog will get banned.
14. I now have a Digg account that will automatically get 15-30 Digg’s from my friends as soon as I submit a story, depending on what the story is about. For example they’ll probably not digg SEO or Affiliate Marketing related stories.
15. Have fun digging, remember it’s a game. It’s not difficult. You just need to network & build relationships then you’ll be rewarded

BlogRush users may have noticed that Phase 2 is finally finished and released. The new dashboard is operational as well as the promised improved stats by John Reese. John also released a video to go with the new update located here:

http://www.blogrush.com/vphase2

On option added that wasn’t mentioned is the ability to delete a blog off of the network. On the same menu you’ll see that new categories will be coming a bit later, November 2nd for those of you with highly specific niche blogs don’t have much longer to wait.

It all seems pretty intuitive from going over it briefly.

If you’re not using BlogRush now would be a great time to try it out. Hits from the software still seem to trickle in, but given this update is less than 24 hours old we’ll have to give it a bit more time for the new changes to have some affect.

Google appears to be trying their hand at Social Bookmarking by ending their widely known PageRank(PR) system. Here is a copy of the article below.

“Google 2.0

In a nod to Web 2.0 and in an effort to make the Google experience more user-centric, Google will end the system of assigning each web page a Page Rank based on an algorithm of links, quality and popularity. Instead, each page will have a Page Rate assigned by the readers.Page Rate will be established by the installation of an attractive voting widget on each page allowing readers to click either an up or down arrow to show approval or disapproval of the page’s content. After clicking the arrow of choice, the reader will be prompted to leave a comment about the page they just voted for. While all users are allowed to vote, only those logged into their Google account will actually have their votes counted or be allowed to comment.

Float It

Google users will also be able to go to the new “Float It” site where they may rate sites already rated by other Googlers. Once on Float It, readers are encouraged to examine pages other Floaters have submitted and vote to either “Float It” or “Sink It”, thereby helping to bring exposure to the truly deserving web pages.

Trip Over It
Another method of finding pages to rate will be by using the new Google Toolbar With TripOverIt. The new toolbar will have a TripOverIt button integrated into it as well as a window showing the current page’s Votes and Floats. With the toolbar installed, the user may click the “TripOverIt” button and be taken to a random web page to vote on. The user need not worry about selecting categories or preferences because the toolbar will also track their surfing habits and only serve up the kind of pages they like.

Goo.glicio.us

For those Googlers who want to be able to return to the pages they really liked, Google has developed Googlicious. Googlicious is a social bookmarking community that allows users to connect and share their favorite pages.

Limitations and Restrictions

While it is required that each page have the Page Rate Widget installed to qualify for a Page Rate, the site owner is not allowed to have any other voting or submission widgets on the page. Neither may the site owner ask for votes or refer to the widget in any way. The site owner also may not, under any circumstances, click their own widget. If a site owner clicks their own widget or in any way attempts to commit widget fraud, all pages owned by that owner will be removed from the Page Rate Program, will be disallowed from Organic Search Results and the Googlebot will be instructed to break all of the links on the page and screw up the CSS code on its way out. Rankings

Rankings will still be scored on a 10 point system based on a proprietary algorithm of Up Votes, Down Votes, Float Its, Sink Its, Bookmarks and the quality of comments received.

From The Founders

In an interview posted on the Google blog, the founders of Google were asked if they were trying to take over the entire internet. Sergey Brin adamantly stated, “We absolutely are not trying to take over the internet!” Co-founder Larry Page interjected, “We don’t like to use the word ‘trying‘.”

Article Follow-up here

Now, imediately I see I’m not going to be a part of this. You can’t use other widgets? Widgets like StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us? Google is late to teh Social Bookmarking arena as it is, doing a very Microsoft thing and restricting access to their systems alone willseriously hurt them in this field. Neworks and multiple powerful networks is what made these Socail Bookmarks to powerful.

Well, Google can do whatever they want I suppose. I really wonder if they’ll get anyone on their network with the rules they have here.

Google, page rank, social bookmarking
Share This
